Alastair Robertson is a founding partner and director of OSL Consulting Engineers and OSL Risk Management. He has over 25 years of professional experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. He has an in-depth knowledge of this business in the UK and has also developed projects in Germany, Africa and the Middle East. He has acted as a Principal Consultant and Project Manager for a large number of major Gas, Oil, LNG and Energy Projects.
His areas of expertise are General Business Management, Technical Assurance, Project Concept and Project Development, Commissioning and Training, and EPCm contracts on major gas production projects.
Alastair received his Chemical and Process Engineering degree at Heriot-Watt University, he is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (FIChemE), Member (MEI) and Trustee of the Energy Institute and Member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD).
Alastair has developed his managerial career in large companies, such as: Conoco UK Ltd, Total, BP and Hydro Fertilisers, among others.
As a Director of OSL, he has been the winner of the start-up business of the year award in 2008 and small business of the year award in 2009. Currently, he is leading projects with many clients for gas storage and production and small-scale LNG projects. The projects incorporate risk-based selection, project cost and schedule risk analysis, field developments and feasibility studies.
With OSL Risk Management he gives strategic guidance in project risk and operational risk (capacity, availability, maintenance, reliability, plant operations, safety), and also strategic project planning.
Dr. Johnathan C. Mun is the founder, Chairman and CEO of Real Options Valuation, Inc. (ROV) firm specializing in strategic real options, risk management, financial valuation, Monte Carlo Risk Simulation, stochastic forecasting, optimization, and business intelligence analytics located in northern Silicon Valley, California (U.S.A). He is also the Chairman of the International Institute of Professional Education and Research (IIPER), an accredited global organization providing the Certified in Quantitative Risk Management (CQRM) designation, staffed by professors from named universities from around the world.
He is also the creator of all the software products at ROV, including Risk Simulator, Modelling Toolkit, Real Options Super Lattice Solver, Employee Stock Options Valuation Toolkit, ROV Compiler, ROV Extractor and Evaluator, ROV Modeller, ROV Basel ll and lll Modeller, ROV Optimizer, ROV Valuator, and others, as well as the risk analysis Training DVD and he holds public seminars on risk analysis and Certified in Quantitative Risk Management(CQRM) programs. He has authored over twelve books in risk management and real options, which are being used at top worldwide universities (e.g., University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, Harvard, Massachusetts, New York University, Naval Postgraduate School, Stockholm University in Sweden, the Bern Institute in Germany, Chung-Ang University in South Korea, ITESM in Mexico, University of York in the United Kingdom, and Edinburgh University in Scotland, among others).
Dr. Mun is also currently a finance and economics professor at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, who has taught at universities all over the world. He also holds the position of the EU President of American Academy of Financial Management and sits on the Global Board of Standards at the AAFM. He was formerly the Vice President of Analytics at Decisioneering, Inc.., Consulting Manager and Financial Economist in the Valuation Services and Global Financial Services practice of KPMG Consulting, and a Manager with the Economic Consulting Services practice at KPMG LLP. He had taught and consulted on a variety of real options, risk analysis, financial forecasting, project management, and financial valuation issues for over 200 multinational firms (former and current clients include 3M, Airbus, Boeing, BP, Chevron Texaco, Financial Accounting Standards Board, Fujitsu, GE, Microsoft, Motorola, Pfizer, State of California, Timken, U.S. Department of Defence, U.S. Navy, Veritas, and many others). His experience prior to joining KPMG included being Department Head of financial planning and analysis at Viking Inc. of FedEx, performing financial forecasting, economic analysis, and market research.
Dr. Mun received his Ph.D. in Finance and Economics from Lehigh University, where his research and academic interests were in the areas of Investment Finance, Econometric Modelling, Financial Options, Corporate Finance, and Microeconomic Theory. He also has an M.B.A. in business administration, an M.S. in management science, and a B.S. in Biology and Physics. He is Certified in Financial Risk Management (FRM), Certified in Financial Consulting(CFC), and is Certified in Risk Management (CRM). He is a member of the American Mensa, Phi Beta Kappa Honour Society, and Golden Key Honour Society as well as several other professional organizations, including the Eastern and Southern Finance Associations, American Economic Association, and Global Association of Risk Professionals. Finally, he has written many academic articles published in international peer-review journals in Accounting and Finance, Economics, Engineering, and so forth.
Nick Jones is a founding partner and director of OSL Consulting Engineers and OSL Risk Management. Nick has over 30 years of professional experience as a mechanical/project engineer in the oil and gas sector; working primarily for the major energy companies in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS); in both client and contractor roles. With a wealth of experience in Gas Turbines and multi-stage Gas Compressors, Nick is a Mechanical Technical Authority with engineering management experience in the UK and Europe.
Nick has a vast experience of managing CAPEX/OPEX projects (onshore and offshore gas production facilities), covering the design, selection, fabrication, installation and commissioning of all equipment, implementing safety and risk management reviews (including hazops), analysing plant operations, troubleshooting and improving asset integrity; amongst other aspects. In 2012, he was engaged as Engineering Manager in charge of a multi-disciplinary team in Northern Germany, responsible for investigating persistent operational issues and designing solutions to bring an underground gas storage plant up to nameplate capacity and target availability.
Nick graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1983 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and he is a Member of the Energy Institute (MEI) and a Member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD). After working as a graduate trainee with an oilfield services company for a few years, he has developed his managerial and engineering career principally in large companies, such as British Gas Plc, ConocoPhillips Ltd and BP. Since founding OSL Consulting Engineers in 2005, he has been providing a full range of conceptual and detailed engineering solutions for many clients, including project management services for larger projects. With OSL Risk Management, Nick gives strategic guidance in operational risk (capacity, availability, maintenance, reliability, plant operations, Hazops), and also strategic planning.
Dr Elvis Hernandez has over seventeen years of experience in risk management. Formerly Central Banker's Economist, founder and executive director of a Latin-America consulting firm, and Senior Executive Consultant/Trainer at Real Options Valuations, Inc. (ROV) working on real options, risk management, Monte Carlo Risk Simulation, optimisation, and business intelligence analytics.
Dr Hernandez has participated in several international consulting projects in Portugal, Spain, U.S., Latin America (i.e., Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Guatemala, Argentina, etc.), and the UK. Elvis has also implemented top level of executive programs in Decision Making, Risk Management and Strategic Options for board of directors, managers, analysts, and senior professionals in government agencies, oil and gas companies, telecommunications companies, Banks, and SMEs.
He has a PhD in Finance, and a PhD in Engineering Science, where his research and academic interests are in Corporate Governance, Multi-criteria Decision Analysis, Risk Management, Valuations and Real Options. He is an Economist (Magna-Cum-Laude), with an MSc. in Statistics and Operations Research and MSc. in Finance with honours, Certified in Quantitative Risk (CQRM) by the IIPER (member of the prestigious AACSB), and an Associate in Business ERP by SAP Corporation.
Elvis belongs to the Academy of Higher Education in the UK as an Associate Fellow. He is also a member of the Portuguese Economic Association, and Visiting Professor in risk management, real options valuations, and decision-making modules in some international universities. Finally, he has written relevant academic articles published in international peer-review journals in reliability systems, central banking, engineering, risk, uncertainty, and so forth.
Dr. Claudio M. Rocco S. is an Electrical Engineer with MSc. in Power Systems by the Central University of Venezuela and Ph.D. by Robert Gordon University in the United Kingdom. He is a retired Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Venezuela in the postgraduate programs (Operations Research and Electrical Systems) and has been a visiting professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan (Italy), University of “Las Palmas de Gran Canaria” (Spain), and Simón Bolívar University and Andrés Bello Catholic University (Venezuela).
His main areas of research and consultancy are: Reliability Engineering, Vulnerability and Resilience, Uncertainty Propagation, Multi-Criteria Decision Making, Sensitivity Analysis, Statistical Applications in Power Systems, Advanced Statistics, Evolutionary Optimization Techniques and Learning Machines. Dr. Rocco is an internationally recognised expert with more than 215 peer-reviewed publications and a large number of chapters in published books. As per March 2017, he registers 141 publications in Google Scholar with more 1484 citations (h index = 22), 105 publications in Scopus (Elsevier) with more than 1025 citations (h index = 19) and has in ResearchGate a score of 31.66 (this score is greater than 90.0% of the members included in this worldwide network of researchers).
Finally, Dr. Claudio is also a member of the Association of Engineers of Venezuela, a senior consultant in engineering companies for the electrical, petroleum and telecommunications industries, international visiting professor, member of the editorial board of several international scientific journals including Reliability Engineering & System Safety, and reviewer of several journals indexed in the Science Citation Index (SCI).
Chris has over 30 years’ experience in business development and customer relationship management. Throughout his career he has always maintained a strong work ethic, taking a customer-centric approach in all that he does, developing good relationships with both existing and new business accounts. He has worked for several highly respected companies across a variety of different industry types, these include NM Schroder Wagg (Sales Aid Leasing), Hutchison Whampoa/Orange Plc (Mobile Communications) and (BT) Airwave a Tetra based Radio network responsible for the communications across all the UK’s emergency blue light services.
